EFA, Edward Fitzgerald / Architects is an award winning, architectural design firm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The design studio is based on an interdisciplinary approach to architecture that includes architects, designers, artists, and builders working together with the client. This integrated approach to design has been successful in creating award winning designs for Schools, Office Buildings, Restaurants, Retail, Residential and Mixed-use Housing projects.

It is the philosophy of Edward Fitzgerald / Architects to create architecture that reflects culture in the physical landscape with meaning and inspiration for human interaction, work, recreation and contemplation.

EDWARD FITZGERALD

Ed Fitzgerald, RA, AIA, principal in charge of Edward Fitzgerald / Architects, has over 47 years of experience practicing architecture (43 years as a licensed NM architect), including five years teaching design studios at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning.  During 2007 he was the president of AIA Albuquerque.  Ed received his M.ARCH. from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and his B.ARCH. from the University of Notre Dame in 1975.  

 

Ed's work experience includes residential, educational and office building design in New York, Texas and New Mexico.   Ed apprenticed in the office of Edward Larrabee Barnes in NYC before establishing his own firm in 1987 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  While working in NYC, Ed worked on the 60 story IBM Building at Madison and 57th Street and the 11 Story Old Stone Bank building in Providence, RI.

Since 1987 Edward Fitzgerald / Architects has worked on various types of architectural projects including:  master planning; feasibility studies; custom houses; restaurants; bars; climbing gyms and school projects ranging from K thru college.  

​

As principal in charge and director of design, Ed Fitzgerald assures a high level of in-depth research, design and experience on each project the office works on.

JORDAN FITZGERALD

Jordan has been with Edward Fitzgerald / Architects since 2010, during which he completed his M.ARCH in 2013 and became a registered architect in 2020.  He has worked on a number of different project types, ranging from single and multiple family homes to larger commercial projects including the Stone Age Climbing Gym and the Truman Middle School replacement project, which includes 60,000 sf of new construction and the redevelopment of the schools vehicle and pedestrian circulation.  

 

Growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jordan studied psychology as an undergraduate.  He worked at the UNM Children's Psychiatric Hospital where he developed an understanding of how psychological dysfunction manifests in the City.  He went on to live in Spain for two years, studying Hispanic culture and design and teaching English as a second language.  Returning to Albuquerque, Jordan studied at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning and joined Edward Fitzgerald / Architects in 2010.    

 

Jordan's design approach reinforces the Firm's commitment to sustainability through a thoughtful interface between architecture and the natural world.
